Sample swatches
These sample swatches are early tests and iterations of weaving QR codes.
Starting on the left, this swatch was made on a jacquard loom. This swatch came out not the way I intended to. First drafted onto an adacad file (where I forgot to include interlacements) then processed to the jacquard loom. The middle swatch was my first iteration of used the overlay technique. Overlay is the use of a plain weave (tabby) in-between each row of "code". This swatch was most just messing around on the 8-shaft loom and getting a better understanding for how I can achieve making a QR code. On the right, we have another 8-shaft loom swatches. another iteration of the previous swatch, Overlay technique with finer and more structure than the last swatch.
After completing this swatches, I moved onto the cricket loom to see if that would be anymore beneficial than the 8-shaft.

Micro Code swatches

micro code was an off the dome iteration of the QR codes. I did not love the size restrictions of the 8-shaft and felt the tension was also limiting. Let's just say, I was very happy I gave the cricket loom a shot. This tension was easier to control and I felt the appearance resembled a QR code more than the other swatches. I also took a little detour and wanted to start with simple code - micro code. Micro codes are just smaller versions of QR code both physically and in its data capacity.
